Privacy, Intellectual Property and access to Social media


 
It is very clear when connecting to social media tools, information and contents reach large and diverse audiences all around the world. The main challenges when using those tools include privacy, security and intellectual property issues.
It must be highlighted that, Internet service providers have the capacity to keep a record of all our Internet activity. In addition, Internet companies have also the capacity to monitor individual users, follow interactions between users and profiles, and scan and index the content of files, emails and messages.
For instance, Private information about individuals and organizations also presents potential dangers including identity theft, fraud, unauthorized copying of valuable information, among others.
So in this context, it is important when using social media tools that one ensure that private and confidential information are kept secure at all times. As an individual, you have the right to keep private information to yourself and make it unavailable to others.
There are various ways in ensuring security on the internet. For example, Safe passwords containing both letters and numbers and symbols should be used and passwords should not be obvious words that others can guess. Moreover, one must make sure to sign out safely from accounts specially when using a shared computer.
When publishing information on the internet, the author has the right to decide how their material will be used and distributed. Copyright law protects most material from being copied or used without permission or payment.
So, it is important to follow good practices to ensure privacy and security of data and information when using social media services.
